Make your own reusable tissues

Make your own reusable tissues

This is a simple way to save trees and money! The idea of using a tree to blow my nose just doesn’t sit well with me. Cutting down a majestic being and grinding it up, pulping, bleaching and mashing it into tissues that will be used and thrown away… no thanks! There is another way, and it’s simple and cheap.

Bandana for cutting into cloth tissues

Head on down to your local thrift store, buy a couple bandanas or soft cotton scarves, wash them and cut them into tissue-sized squares. Use, wash and reuse. That’s it!

i like using a bandana when i go into the backcountry – i nickname it my ‘pee bandana’. carrying one of these eliminates the need for extra toilet paper. The bandana can be rinsed in a creek daily and hung on your pack to dry.
